There’s always that one cafe we choose to stay in. A place that feels familiar. It’s like a warm hug in the middle of a busy, unpredictable world. For many people in the South, OH HEY THERE MATCHA CAFE has become exactly that. It’s more than just a cafe; it’s a safe space deeply rooted in community.

Reopening of that Matcha Cafe in BF Homes
BF Homes has always been a go-to spot for anyone craving a quick caffeine fix, comfort food, or even spontaneous late-night conversations over cocktails and wine. It’s a place where you can find almost anything you’re looking for. Hidden restos, small creative spaces, and homegrown brands that feel personal. And tucked somewhere in that mix is where the original OH HEY THERE STUDIO was built.

The owners first envisioned it as a studio first, cafe second in the South, noticing that there weren’t many creative studios around the area. But after a year, they realized that the foot traffic wasn’t enough to sustain the space. They came close to the idea of closing it down… until a bright idea changed everything.

They added matcha to the menu.
Their now-viral banana pudding matcha latte unexpectedly made a lot of noise. They even got featured on Spot PH, Metro Style, and Cosmo. What started off as a simple addition turned into the heart of the brand. Suddenly, people were lining up, posting about it, and telling their friends.
The support became consistent. Even at pop-ups where usually not a lot of people line up, they still drew crowds. They were even invited to the Manila Matcha Festival in MOA Arena and were featured alongside big matcha brands. The regulars grew. And because of that steady love from the community, OH HEY THERE MATCHA CAFE has now relocated to a new space, bigger and better than the first.

And here’s the interesting thing: whenever customers are asked why they keep coming back, their answers almost always begin with the high-quality matcha, unique flavor pairings, and consistent taste. But beyond that, there’s a pattern that’s impossible to ignore:
People return because of the baristas.
Because of the warmth.
Because it feels like a place that remembers you.

The baristas greet people by name, ask about their day, and share genuine conversations. Something that’s rare these days. There’s a sense of community that forms in spaces like this, a feeling that you’re not just a customer but part of something bigger. And that has always been the core of OH HEY THERE.
More Than a Cafe, It’s a Safe Space
In the original branch at Double E, people found comfort within those four small corners. It was where students studied for their exams, where creatives worked on their drafts, where friends met after long days, where some cried, laughed, planned, and healed. And that same feeling, that same sense of belonging, will continue in the four new corners of 156 Aguirre.

The reopening marks more than a physical move. It’s a continuation of their story: one built on connection, authenticity, and the belief that cafes can be homes, too.
What’s New This Time?
Not only did the branch get a makeover, even the menu did. The menu has been improved, but don’t worry, the classic favorites are still there! They recently added the Kinako Matcha Latte, which is something you should definitely try on your first visit.
Since the owners will never lose the creativity in their DNA, you can still see the usual OH HEY THERE branding with posters, books, and anik-aniks. They’re also now partnering with local artists, so there’s more space for the OH HEY THERE GENERAL STORE. Located near the cashier, you can find various collections from different artists, from stickers to postcards and even tote bags. There are also free stickers, so go get yours before they run out!
The OH HEY THERE commissary is also now rolling, where the South’s favorite banana pudding is being offered with tray options perfect for gatherings, a truly Filipino tradition.
Every detail of the new branch—from the interior accents to the improved packaging—was influenced by the founders’ creative backgrounds. They wanted it to be a place that doesn’t just serve drinks, but tells a story. A place that customers can emotionally connect to.
Why Community Matters
If there’s one thing Oh Hey There learned from their first year, it’s that community happens naturally when a space feels safe, warm, and honest. The cafe isn’t about pretending to be a “perfect” lifestyle spot. It’s about being real. About welcoming anyone who walks in, no matter what their background is.

And maybe that’s why the reopening feels special. It’s not just a return—it’s a renewal.
A chance to begin again.
To bring more people together.
To make matcha moments that stick with you long after the cup is empty.
